Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Job Overview An externship experience at a North Stewart Veterinary Clinic, part of National Veterinary Associates, will give veterinary students the opportunity to understand day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. The hospital is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and their owners. Responsibilities Work closely with a supervising veterinarian to gather patient histories. Perform physical examinations of animals. Assist with creating treatment plans. Participate in diagnostic procedures. Assist or perform dentistry services. Observe and assist or perform surgical procedures. Help with medical management of patients. Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Schedule and Stipend Externship duration is from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at North Stewart Veterinary Clinic are designed for third- and fourth-year veterinary students. Students in the clinical portion of education are eligible for a travel and living expense stipend. Qualifications Third- or fourth-year veterinary student. In the clinical portion of education.
