Electronics Mechanic

Summary The Electronics Mechanic is located within the Facilities Management Service of the Memphis VA Healthcare System. The incumbent is responsible for the comprehensive technical support of electronic instrumentation to include: maintenance, repair, calibration, installation, inspection, evaluation, and user training. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement – 05/26/2026. A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of this position. Evidence of knowledge, skills, and ability must be supported by detailed descriptions on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. Duties Responsible for verifying proper installation of hardware, software, and networking protocols; determine whether components attached to the computer and network systems—such as Public Address, Nurse Call, Fire Alarm, TV/Entertainment, and Security systems—are functioning as designed. If not functional, replace or repair components. Service, maintain, repair, fabricate, overhaul, modify, install, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on electronic equipment. Perform proper diagnostic and precise correction of malfunction in complex electronic equipment and systems using theoretical knowledge and trade techniques. Determine and correct the use of theoretical knowledge and sophisticated test equipment such as dual trace oscilloscope, in‑line watt meters, digital multimeter, communication analyzer, laptop PC with interface equipment, CATV signal analyzers, data line analyzers, logic probes, logic monitors, logic tracers, EPROM eraser, EPROM burner, and a 0‑at‑ran digital interface analyzer. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, or 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Physical Requirements Incumbent must be in good physical condition, able to lift loads up to 40 pounds, climb and work from ladders, work in cramped spaces of low light levels, and perform duties in cold and hot weather. #J-18808-Ljbffr U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
