Job Description Overview The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture(APLA) at Auburn University, a comprehensive land-grant andresearch institution, invites applications for two VisitingAssistant Professor positions in Architecture centered on teachingdesign studio and seminar/lecturer courses commencing August2026. APLA has a 118-year history of educating architects, interiorarchitects, landscape architects, and planners. The schoolcontributes to the region and to the profession through outreach,scholarship, and creative work. APLA includes four allieddisciplines: Architecture, Interior Architecture, EnvironmentalDesign, and Landscape Architecture, and it offers both Bachelor'sand Master's degree options. APLA resides in the College ofArchitecture, Design and Construction along with the School ofIndustrial and Graphic Design and the McWhorter School of BuildingScience. The Architecture program seeks candidates whose design research /practice is grounded in architectural innovation. We welcomecandidates engaged in a range of progressive practices andscholarship in architecture and allied fields. Applicants areexpected to teach and conduct research/lead creative activity thatcontributes to or challenges current architectural thinking. Thesuccessful candidates will teach design studios that integratesocial, technical, and environmental considerations intoarchitectural design and relevant courses in building technology.Additionally, the candidates should have a strong teaching andresearch interest in one or more of the following areas:fabrication technologies, materials research, environmentalcontrols, building systems/performance, sustainability, highperformance assemblies, and/or resilience. Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of the appointment include teaching,research, and service. The successful candidates for the positionswill be able to teach undergraduate architecture studios, lecturecourses, and/or seminars/workshops related to advancedarchitectural design courses. Candidates will be expected todevelop and maintain an active program of scholarly and/or creativework within the discipline. APLA is particularly interested incandidates who can contribute to the excellence of the academiccommunity through their teaching, research, outreach, and service.Salary will be commensurate with experience andqualifications. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a PhD, Master of Architecture, Master ofScience in Architecture, or a Bachelor of Architecture plus aterminal degree in a related field, at the time employment begins.The candidates selected for these positions must be able to meeteligibility requirements for work in the United States at the timeof employment and continue working legally for the proposed term ofemployment.
