About the Position

Job Title: Surgical Technician-NCA Profession: Tech Specialty: Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM; Call 1 weekend, 3 overnights and up to 30 hours daytime call in a 6-week period Experience: Two years of Surgical Tech experience License: BLS Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Must-Have: Experience with neuro (spine/crani) Description: This position involves assisting other members of the healthcare team in delivering patient care during the intra-operative period. The major focus is on preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment. The role requires assisting the surgeon during surgical procedures. The individual must administer care and use of equipment based on the age and needs of the patient population served. Knowledge of specific procedures or specialties is essential. The Surgical Technician must effectively prioritize, plan, and problem-solve due to the changing nature of work situations during surgical procedures. The ability to recognize the need for immediate response during urgent or emergency situations is required. Basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique must be applied in all patient and family interactions. Key responsibilities include displaying aseptic technique during surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes. The individual is responsible for the care, preparation, handling, and maintenance of surgical instrumentation. Consistent performance of sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy and procedure is expected. Knowledge and adherence to professional standards of practice are essential.
