As an Activities Director at Morning Star of Jackson-Sylva, you will play a vital role in creating a vibrant and engaging community for our residents. Activities Director will provide a unique combination of leadership, creativity, and passion to design, implement, and evaluate an array of activities, programs, and events that promote socialization, wellness, and overall happiness among our residents.

About the Role:

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate daily activities, programs, and events, including arts, crafts, games, outings, and entertainment

• Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that caters to diverse interests, abilities, and needs of our residents

• Collaborate with the care team to ensure activities align with resident care plans and support individual goals

• Foster a sense of community by encouraging resident participation, socialization, and intergenerational connections

• Develop and maintain relationships with local community organizations, businesses, and entertainment providers to secure sponsorships, donations, and resources

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement engaging activities, including:

  • Arts and crafts

  • Music and dance

  • Games and puzzles

  • Outings and trips

  • Entertainment events

• Coordinate and facilitate group outings and excursions

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive activity calendar

• Participate in resident assessments and care planning

• Collaborate with the care team to address resident needs and concerns

• Maintain accurate records and reports of activities and resident participation

Requirements:

• Degree in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• Prior experience in activities management, elder care, or a related field

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Creativity, flexibility, and a passion for working with seniors
