Supervisor - Respiratory Care

Overview This position functions as a Supervisor over the night shift Respiratory Care staff, including RC techs and RRTs. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new night shift staff, scheduling, overseeing job duties and performance, and managing respiratory care supplies and equipment. The Supervisor also serves as the primary staff ordering and monitoring point for all respiratory care supplies. Qualifications Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Management, Science, or Respiratory Therapy Licenses / Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year – American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year – American Heart Association (AHA) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 1 year – American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Work Experience: Respiratory therapy, 3+ years Responsibilities Coach, precept, and develop night shift staff in professionalism, behaviors, and technical skills. Demonstrate strong clinical leadership, communication, and multitasking abilities; accept and implement change. Motivate and inspire the team, providing timely feedback, praise, encouragement, and recognition. Collaborate with the manager to ensure adequate staffing for the night shift. Hold staff accountable for service standards and expectations; provide guidance, counseling, and disciplinary action as needed. Address conflicts through active listening and empathy, seeking to understand multiple perspectives. Participate in PI data gathering to monitor clinical practice. Evaluate and monitor therapy to ensure optimal care consistent with departmental policies. Apply clinical problem‑solving skills to prioritize decisions and rearrange priorities as required. Track inventories of medical equipment and coordinate replenishment with the manager. Ensure equipment is clean, processed, and operational; maintain a clean and organized department. Serve as a role model in respiratory care, demonstrating clinical judgment, technical competencies, and knowledge. Support new night shift staff by providing needed resources and completing orientation check‑offs and competencies. Assist the Respiratory Care staff with clinical support and assistance. Review night shift staffing with the Manager and leader on‑call weekly. Participate in performance evaluations and check‑ins of night shift staff. Ensure code boxes are checked and stocked routinely; monitor consumable supply levels weekly and order supplies as needed. Verify disinfectant tub usage and ensure testing documentation is current. Execute special projects assigned by the Manager. Assist the Manager with payroll monitoring and completion. Compensation and Benefits Compensation range: $40.68 per hour – $69.97 per hour. The actual offer will depend on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
