Job Title Assistant Meat Department Manager Department Meat FLSA Status Non-Exempt Core Competencies Partnerships Growth mindset Results oriented Customer focused Professionalism Reporting Relations Accountable and Reports to: District Store Director; Assistant Managers Operations; Perishables; Health Wellness Home, Meat Department Manager Team Meat Specialists, Meat Wrap Coordinators, Clerks Primary Duties and Responsibilities Provide prompt, efficient, friendly customer service, greeting customers and addressing them by name. Assist customers with product location, lifting heavy items, and addressing requests. Answer phones promptly, take product orders, and provide friendly service. Maintain department standards: review product freshness, rotate and replenish display cases, prepare cutting lists, and conduct cutting tests. Offer meal solutions and preparation advice to customers. Order new items and manage inventory to control shrinkage. Ensure proper temperatures, storage procedures, and sanitation to guarantee freshness. Train new employees on procedures and standards. Tenderize, grind, and cut merchandise. Adhere to company policies, personal hygiene, dress code, and safety guidelines. Report to work on time and follow scheduling. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities Assume management duties in the absence of the Department Manager. Wrap, weigh, label product. Perform cleaning tasks in the department. Provide input on goals and pricing. Assist in other areas of the store as needed. Complete special projects as required. Supervisory Responsibilities Instruct, assign, review, and plan work of team members. Maintain standards, coordinate activities, and allocate personnel. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics Problem solving with limited standardization. Arithmetic calculations including fractions, decimals, and percentages. File, post, mail materials, and data entry. Interview to obtain basic information and provide direction. Education and Experience High School or equivalent. At least one year of related work experience preferred. Physical Requirements Exert up to 100 lbs force occasionally; up to 50 lbs frequently; up to 10 lbs constantly. Perform activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Vision: 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, field of vision. Working Conditions Exposed daily to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, chemicals, and electrical shock. Fast paced environment. Equipment Used Power ban saw, Grinder, Tenderizer, Slicer, Bone duster, Knives, Tumblers, Automatic patty machine, Automatic stuffer, Wrapping system, Rotisserie, Pallet jack, box cutter, Computer, C.A.R.S. reordering system. Financial Responsibility Responsible for company assets, including equipment and merchandise. Confidentiality Access to confidential information: ads, gross profit percentage, wages, sales, pricing, employee information. Compensation The anticipated hourly starting wage is $15.50 to $19.50 depending on experience.
