Senior Director, Global Analytics & Insights, Cell Therapy

We are rapidly progressing a broad pipeline of cell therapies in collaboration with AstraZeneca’s Therapeutic Area Units.   

The Global Analytics & Insights mission is to improve the quality of decisions for our assets and across our disease areas by providing high-quality market, customer, and competitor analytics. The Senior Director, Global Analytics & Insights, Cell Therapy , will report to the Global Commercial Head, Cell Therapy, and lead a program of insights and analysis for the Cell Therapy Enterprise, supporting priority assets from clinical development through commercialization across prioritized disease areas. In addition, the role will provide deep insights and strategic direction in support of enterprise-level initiatives and key commercial decisions.

Responsibilities: 

Portfolio-wide, cross-indication analysis and strategic projects: 

• Act as the Global Analytics & Insights point of contact for the Cell Therapy Enterprise, partnering with cross-functional leaders and priority markets to shape portfolio strategy, asset development plans, and long-range business planning. 

• Build personal and institutional knowledge of key disease areas in the space, including HCP and patient insights, market dynamics, competitive landscape, and key implications on the AZ portfolio. 

• Lead strategic projects across the cell therapy portfolio in partnership with Cell Therapy Enterprise leadership and cross-functional teams. 

• Serve as a cell therapy insights expert, building the capabilities, evidence, and market understanding needed to support clinical development plans, asset prioritization, indication strategy, and future commercialization. 

Global Analytics & Insights lead for priority cell therapy assets and indications: 

• Develop a deep therapy area knowledge bridging from clinical development through to commercialization. 

• Uncover deep strategic understanding of patients, markets, collaborators, competitors, and brands to drive competitive advantage now and for the future. 

• Partner strategically with Global Commercial, R&D, Medical, Regulatory, Market Access, and Operations teams, bringing objective insights to key asset and portfolio decisions. 

• Provide an independent view in decision-making bodies with an external perspective and a future-oriented focus. 

• Integrate insights from clinical, market, customer, competitor, access, and treatment-delivery sources to inform target product profiles, development choices, indication sequencing, portfolio prioritization, and robust opportunity-focused forecasts. 

• Develop objective quantitative analyses and business cases that reflect cell therapy-specific considerations, including eligible patient identification, referral pathways, treatment-center readiness, manufacturing capacity, vein-to-vein time, access, and scalability. 

• Manage relationships and budgets with external market research, forecasting, and data/analytics vendors and partners. 

• Explore advanced analytics and predictive modeling suited to cell therapy unique delivery model 

Essential Skills/Experience 

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or mathematics discipline; MBA, PhD, PharmD, or other advanced degree preferred 

• Minimum 6 years of analytical and market research experience in the pharmaceutical/consulting industry 

• Excellent communication skills 

• Experience with senior executive engagement and communication 

• Experience in a similar strategy role within the pharmaceutical industry or life science consulting 

• Ability to use data and analysis to affect, influence, or change the understanding of a market or customer. 

Desirable Skills/Experience 

• Cell therapy, advanced therapies, or oncology development experience (strongly preferred). 

• 4+ years of experience in a consulting, advisory, or investment firm working within the pharmaceutical industry. 

• Experience supporting early-stage or pre-launch assets, including indication prioritization, target product profile development, forecasting under uncertainty, and commercialization readiness. 

• Experience working in a global team.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $218,330  to $327,494. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
