Director Labor Relations

United States (Utah or California) | Healthcare Services | Multi‑Site Operations

A rapidly growing healthcare organization is seeking a strategic and hands‑on Director, People & Labor Relations to build and lead the labor relations function across a complex, unionized environment.

This role will serve as the organization’s labor relations subject matter expert, partnering closely with HR, Legal, Compliance, and Operations leadership to develop and execute a long‑term labor strategy that supports operational excellence and workforce stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and scale the enterprise labor relations function
• Lead labor strategy, union engagement, bargaining prep, and grievance management
• Develop governance structures, playbooks, dashboards, and reporting processes
• Partner with executive leadership on labor risk management and organizational readiness
• Coach leaders and HR teams on union interactions, investigations, and labor best practices
• Strengthen labor‑management partnerships across multiple sites and bargaining units

Qualifications

• 10+ years of labor relations experience in unionized environments
• Healthcare or skilled nursing industry experience strongly preferred
• Proven success leading complex negotiations, grievances, and arbitration
• Experience building or transforming labor relations infrastructure at scale
• Strong executive presence, strategic thinking, and communication skills
• Advanced degree or J.D. preferred
