Process Engineer - Night Shift

THIS IS A 12 HOUR NIGHT SHIFT ROTATING POSITION WORKING 2PM - 2AM Night Shift - Process Engineer Shift coverage : 2pm to 2am shift- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (2 days-on, 2 days-off, 3 days on, 2 days-off) working every other weekend per this rotation. 

What you’ll do:

• Ethical conduct and compliance and adhering to AstraZeneca values and behaviors• Become an expert on the process and equipment to successfully lead and implement process improvements• Develops conceptual strategies, processing schemes, feasibility studies, PFD’s, and detailed scopes of work• Identify and implement projects to increase safety, reduce product cost, improve product quality, improve yield, and reduce material usage• Work on several different projects and be able to prioritize these projects• Works with contractors and project teams on the buildout and expansion of the facility while demonstrating confidence in voicing concerns and driving the project team to deliver a usable product for the end internal customer• Assists in developing control strategy and instrument process design, including emergency and shutdown procedures, instrument specification sheets, control ranges, alarm points, and automation strategy• Authors, updates, reviews, and approves area procedures and master batch records to ensure accurate content and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices• Designs studies, implements experiments and performs data analysis• Writes study proposals, progress reports, development reports, and various technical memo’s• Evaluates new technologies to improve the commercial production process• Supports scale-up activities from R&D to production• Supports the assurance of a robust manufacturing process for the current registered process as experience is gained post-launch.• Acts as an effective change agent• Acts as a key player for the expansion of projects as needed to increase the scale of manufacture• Investigate deviations from standards of the manufacturing process using effective root cause analysis tools. Recommending and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions• Generate, evaluate, and implement innovative and creative solutions• Assist as subject matter expert for technical projects• Capable of generating a project scope and cost plan to effectively draft a capital request

• Develop product and process knowledge in multiple process train areas• Contribute and draft equipment URS development and retrofit• Participate in equipment FAT’s, SAT’s, IQ, OQ, PQ as necessary• Participate in Quality Risk Assessments and process hazards analysis activities• Provide training to operators on process and documentation changes

EXPECTED KNOWLEGE:

Domain knowledge: Familiarity with pharmaceutical batch manufacturing processes preferred, other industries experience will be considered based on transferable chemical engineering principles and experience/ abilities. Experience with batch reactors, agitation systems, filter dryers, filtration, acids/base reactions, solids/API handling and bulk packing equipment, vacuum transfer systems, vacuum pumps, heat exchangers, condensers, and pulse-jet filters, water purification systems. 

Technical writing and analysis: Strong ability to rapidly assess trends and data and develop impact assessments addressing risks to quality, safety, and production KPIs.

Automation and SCADA : Experience with PLC and SCADA or DCS control systems ( operational/engineering level). Preferred with FactoryTalk Rockwell Automation Platform and AVEVA/Wonderware SCADA.

Data historian: Familiarity with OSIsoft PI Data Historian and PI Process Book preferred or similar process data trending software.

Qualification/validation: Experience executing or supporting IQ, OQ, PQ, and PPQ, commissioning, dry-runs for activities for new systems/equipment. 

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or other related technical discipline with direct chemical processing experience preferably in a pharmaceutical production environment.• 1-2 years experience preferably in a pharmaceutical production environment or GMP regulated environment.• Ability to read P&ID’s, Process Flow Diagrams, and perform mass and energy balances.• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.• Displays a high desire to learn while recognizing one's own limitations.• Able to demonstrate technical capabilities using logical thought processes to analyze information and draw conclusions. Desirable:

• High temperature and high-pressure applications• Experience with pressure filter dryer technology• Experience with root cause investigations• Lean certification or experience with lean concepts• Experience with Minitab and/or Trackwise
