Overview A Fellow in the College of Pharmacy (COP) is expected to grow in and make contributions in oral and written communication through teaching and presentations to professional and scientific audiences; research and scholarship through execution, with mentorship, of a project germane to the goals of the Fellowship program; and practice through advanced experiences with various partners of the College. Specifically, the Fellow will assist in the development, coordination, and delivery of pharmacy care skills labs, OSCEs, didactic lectures, pharmacy practice activities, and assessments to engage and develop PharmD students. The Fellow will engage in population health-related activities with current faculty and partners of the College. Research and scholarship can be accomplished through a project to advance ambulatory care pharmacy practice in conjunction with one or more partners of the College in addition to exposure to various scholarship of teaching and learning projects undertaken by COP faculty. The Fellow will engage in College-level service with participation on at least one standing committee so as to gain knowledge of, appreciation for, and relevant skills in teamwork and organizational governance. The Fellow will be mentored in and thus be expected to role model professional behaviors to PharmD students through their teaching, practice, and research and scholarship activities.

- Develop, design, coordinate, and deliver patient care skills-based laboratories and pharmacy practice active learning activities, as well as didactic lectures and OSCEs related to advanced ambulatory care practice particularly involving population health activities
- Example activities: physical assessment, injection technique, sterile & non-sterile compounding, patient counseling, patient interviewing skills, disability simulation, diabetes workshop, pulmonary devices workshop, SOAP
- Assist with development of innovative cases for existing and potentially new OSCEs in population health
- Provide formative and summative feedback to students on competency-based assessments
- Assist in the design and execution of population health-related activities
- Provide oversight over PharmD student health-promotion activities, including but not limited to Student-Run Free Clinic activities, health fairs, health promotional activities in population health, vaccination clinics, and other
- Develop new opportunities for the College to engage in population health activities with any of a number of existing and potentially new partners
- Engage with preceptors who are delivering population health and other direct patient care services and assist with their execution and evaluation of patient outcomes
- Engage in scholarly activities to promote skills in outcomes assessment, basic research skills, and communication skills needed to present and publish the findings of research activity
- Engage with faculty in various scholarship of teaching and learning-related projects
- Upon selection of a major research project advisor and appropriate team identify and execute a project in population health aimed to promote pharmacy practice in this area and advance models of care by one or more of the College's partners
- Present and publish the outcomes of scholarly work at one or more professional meetings and prepare a manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal
- Doctoral degree (e.g., PharmD) or equivalent expertise in a relevant area, with preference toward a PharmD
- California pharmacist licensure, or eligibility to sit for the licensure examinations
- Develop and maintain good working rapport with faculty members, students and staff.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of collegiality, teamwork, respect, fairness, and inclusiveness.
