Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantUnder general supervision of the Controller, the Staff Accountant provides support to financial accounting areas, including general accounting, accounts payable, cashiering and journal entries.Essential job functions include:Opening daily accounting mail and distributing to appropriate area.Assisting with accounts payable voucher input and processing.Reviewing vendor statements monthly for missing invoices.Cashiering duties like posting journal entries for daily cash.Printing A/R refunds as approved and preparing packet for A/P processing.Researching and pulling backup for vendor reconciliations.Assisting with month end close process like bank reconciliations, departmentals, and WCHD reimbursements.Pulling documents as needed for projects or audits such as Cost Report, Wage Index, Financial, Internal Audit, etc.Sorting, processing, and distributing daily incoming mail to hospital as needed.Abiding by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct.Maintaining patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of PHI.Maintaining a safe work environment and reporting safety concerns appropriately.Performing all other related duties as assigned.All positions of Huntsville Memorial Hospital are part of an interdisciplinary team, and as such, participate in the care and service delivery process through effective interaction with other team members. Primarily interacts with hospital staff, medical staff, patients, and visitors.
