Position Description:

Perform fabrication work on aircraft cabinet components, including dismantling, repairing, fabricating, Alodine processing, riveting and assembling parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Sheet Metal Technician

• Complete work which entails layout, bending, cutting, forming, assembling and welding
• Arrange required materials and parts needed to complete the assigned tasks
• Read work orders, blueprints, engineering drawings, and engineering work orders and interpret schematic diagrams and charts to accomplish fabrication requirements
• Responsibility for final inspection of parts, sub-assemblies, completed assemblies
• Observe work in progress to anticipate and resolve issues
• Operate power/manual press brake machine, shears, bandsaws and sanding machines
• Familiar with all types of metal, hardware, rivets according to size and measurement
• Have knowledge to operate sheet metal tools/equipment familiar with daily operations
• Promote and maintain a healthy and safe work environment through knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures
• Use general sheet metal hand tools such as hand shears, cleco’s and microstops
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
• Documents actions by completing productions and quality logs.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different request; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment

Must be able to perform a various sheet metal functions.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be mechanically inclined.
Knowledge of metal shop work.
Must be highly detail oriented.
Must be able to work effectively with little or no supervision.
Must have the ability to read blueprints.
Knowledge of safety measures pertinent to each job assignment.

Education and Experience
High School diploma.
Minimum 3 years’ experience as Sheet Metal Technician.
Knowledge of tools and their application.
Continuing education to learn new techniques as they emerge.
