Position Cable Technician – Lead Technician About the Role This role primarily involves the installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure within a Data Center environment. A key aspect is the continuous pursuit of sustainable, repeatable, and improved solutions and processes. The individual is expected to provide leadership to crews and provide structured feedback on project progress to various stakeholders, ensuring high‑quality workmanship, maintaining Data Center cleanliness, and adhering to all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices. The role also requires collaboration with stakeholders to resolve project obstacles and the ability to read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation. A broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies is essential. What You Will Do Installation/decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment. Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement. Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders. Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness. Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices. Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles. Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work. Have a broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies. What You Will Need Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools. Must be capable of leading a crew of 1-5 technicians. Must understand customer service, perform job walks and communicate with customer for job requirements. Accept responsibility of outcome of work performed by him/her and/or by employee that directly reports to him/her. Clear understanding of job safety requirements. Be able to read and understand job floor plan. Should be familiar with wiring schemes and wiring testing. Shall be able to pull all types of low voltage cables. Be able to perform field terminations and labeling. Maintain orderly paperwork, capable of running midsize to large projects and service jobs. Possess skills to layout MDF and IDF closets, dress all types of cable, perform all types of terminations, and include basic understanding of fiber equipment, all types of cable and fiber terminations. Basic understanding of both copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting. Capable of working in Data Centers. Work on analog, DSL, extend T1 lines, patch network equipment. Track and submit timesheets for crew reporting. Perform job walks and maintain paperwork for service jobs. Copper/Fiber term, test, splice, troubleshoot. Be responsible for outcome of work. Effective communication with foreman, leads, tech. Understanding metrics/SLA's and track them. Knowledge and understanding of network handover. Track lessons learned as they occur. Coordinate with QAQC on quality status walks. Knowledge and understanding of Project Close Out. Identify tech strengths and weaknesses.
