Manager, Supply Chain Risk Management

Job Description Summary The Manager of the Supply Chain Risk Management Team will provide leadership and management oversight to the SCRM Team and work with Supply Chain and Market Area leaders to ensure corporate SCRM practices are incorporated into programs, including development of tailored SCRM plans and accurate assessment and analysis of critical Draper suppliers supporting the Department of Defense programs. The role focuses on assessing defense industrial base companies, implementing the SCRM NIST 800-53 control family to mitigate supply chain risks, and ensuring compliance with DoD and program‑specific supply chain policy and security requirements. The manager will produce documentation such as SOWs, RFPs, process procedures, test procedures, and manuals to support compliance and process. Duties/Responsibilities Lead SCRM for the Navy Strategic Systems Market Area, developing and evaluating organizational SCRM standards and supporting operational adoption. Review existing SCRM frameworks, incorporate feedback, and implement improvements. Identify improvements to manufacturing, process, and product efficiency to reduce nonconforming products. Analyze systems to identify critical components and risk areas for defense programs. Ensure Draper deliverables meet organizational and customer quality and product integrity requirements. Verify supplier security culture; use open‑source tools to assess foreign ownership, control, or influence. Monitor major changes to the supply chain, managing security and compliance. Document policies and procedures for security, integrity, resilience, and quality of suppliers, systems, and components. Compile and present assessments to programs and customers. Provide supply chain security analysis and expertise throughout the system lifecycle to product development or operations teams. Compile technical requirements documentation for customer system engineering technical review events. Lead cross‑functional teams across Draper to align SCRM operations with protocols. Provide updates to stakeholders on vetting project status. Provide technical assistance and support to customers, suppliers, and employees to resolve issues. Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction. Mentor less experienced team members or engineers on supply‑chain risk management and security topics. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills/Abilities Leadership of cross‑functional teams Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles Familiarity with ISO 9001-2015 and AS9100 quality standards Expertise in process integration Strong organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Advanced knowledge of software suppliers, software supply‑chain risks, and the defense industrial base Subject‑matter expertise with SCRM NIST 800-53 control family and ability to draft compliance documentation Expert familiarity with DFARS, FAR, TAA, NDAA 889, 1260H, and related compliance topics Knowledge of nearshoring, friendly shoring, country of origin, and other supply‑chain risk topics Ability to obtain or maintain a DoD Secret clearance Education Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline; Master’s degree preferred. Experience 7+ years of experience in relevant engineering or comparable roles. Security Clearance Current in‑scope Secret security clearance is required.
