Furnace Technician

Work safely and help others work safely; take primary responsibility for personal safety. Follow all policies and procedures; understand safety is a condition of employment. Monitor and maintain proper batch storage, delivery, weighing, and mixing. Work with QC and raw material carriers to approve unloading of raw materials into silos. Evaluate batch plant control systems data and make adjustments to ensure efficient operation. Monitor and control glass formation in furnace and forehearth to ensure optimum mixing, melting, and throughput. Monitor and adjust critical process variables (gas firing, electric boost power, pressure, temperature, flow rates, oxygen, bubblers, glass level, batch line, etc.). Inspect furnace and forehearths per required frequency and take appropriate action when issues are found. Assist in furnace changes, upsets, start‑ups, shutdowns, repairs, and rebuilds. Guide and assist maintenance personnel in batch and furnace repairs. Perform minor repairs and process adjustments, as necessary. Maintain exceptional housekeeping and organization in batch house, furnace level, furnace sump level, forehearth level, and control room. Other duties as required. Ideal Candidate Prior furnace operations experience. Three or more years of manufacturing experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to provide simple and accurate instructions. Ability to work in a high‑temperature environment. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. frequently; lift up to 50 lbs. regularly. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and grasp. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work from heights. Required to work a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule (days, nights, rotating often). Work Authorization & Travel Some travel may be required. I‑9 verification required.
