Vehicle Equipment Tech III - Facilities Planning and ManagementThe Department of Facilities Planning and Management at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a Vehicle Equipment Technician III (FP116). This position reports directly to the Landscaping & Grounds Manager for general direction. Primary responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance and repairs on ground maintenance vehicles and equipment and operation of equipment in support of seasonal grounds maintenance tasks. Performs plowing and winter management duties during early morning hours, evenings and weekends as needed during winter.The typical working schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 6:00 am- 2 pm. Must be available for winter weather emergencies outside of regular working hours. Some evenings and weekends are required. On 24-hour emergency call list during winter.Key Job Responsibilities:Operate, complete safety inspections and road tests and otherwise maintain University and grounds maintenance vehicles and equipment including mowers, loaders, trucks, tractors, plows, sanders, salters, hand tools and related equipment in support of seasonal grounds maintenance activitiesDocuments completed maintenance and repairs according to established policies and proceduresEstablish and maintain preventive maintenance programs for equipment, including maintaining service records and documentationOrder replacement parts and supplies, coordinate with vendors, and recommend equipment purchasesProvide operation and safety training for equipment to employees and student workers and recommend safe and efficient work practicesDepartment: Facilities Planning and ManagementCompensation: Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting hourly wage of $26.00/hr.
