Backend EngineerOur client is a next-gen trading app and registered investment advisor (RIA) making professional-style investing accessible to everyone. Backed by notable venture investors, the company is ranked among the Top 30 Most Downloaded Finance Apps and is quickly becoming a leader in fintech. They are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to join as an early engineer, working closely with founders and cross-functional teams to build scalable systems and shape the future of investing. This is a hands-on, highly impactful role in a fast-paced, engineering- and product-focused environment.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain robust backend systems that power the trading platform and integrate with major U.S. brokeragesLead development of the pilot portal, enabling seamless user interactions for data input, persistence, and broker integrationReverse-engineer undocumented APIs and implement distributed systems that scale with company growthCollaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, user-centric solutionsDrive impact in a hands-on capacity, directly contributing to a rapidly growing and innovative companySkills/Requirements5-7+ years of professional experience as a backend engineer, ideally in a fast-paced startup environmentProficiency in TypeScript for backend development (open to other languages)Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud infrastructureExpertise in distributed systems, API integration, and cloud-hosted applicationsProven track record of building and scaling backend systems to support rapid growthPrevious experience as a software engineer for trading, investing, or fintech platforms (nice-to-have)Previous experience working in a hyper-growth startup (nice-to-have)Experience with integrations involving platforms like Robinhood, Stripe, Plaid, or similar (nice-to-have)Familiarity with node.js, GraphQL, Nest.js, GCP, Google Pub/Sub, PostgreSQL, or similar stack (nice-to-have)BenefitsGenerous, unlimited PTOTwo-week company-wide holiday shutdown at year-end plus standard company holidays100% premium coverage for employee and dependent health, dental, and vision benefitsGym membershipTop-of-the-line equipment (laptops, external monitors, standing desks, etc.)
