Bus Field Engineer

Company: Hatch Location: Brooklyn, NY, US (NYC area) Job Title Field Engineer / Quality Inspector Responsibilities Perform field inspections associated with transit technology, infrastructure, vehicle, and construction projects Support QA/QC activities across active project sites and operational environments Conduct site visits, document existing conditions, and support engineering assessments Identify, document, and communicate non-conforming conditions and support corrective action tracking Coordinate with project managers, contractors, manufacturers, and client representatives regarding project status and field conditions Support engineering and project management teams with technical documentation, reporting, scheduling, and coordination activities Review inspection reports and quality documentation for completeness and accuracy Participate in testing, commissioning, and system verification activities Maintain organized project documentation including photographs, inspection records, and electronic files Work effectively within active transit, construction, and operational environments while maintaining awareness of safety requirements Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Transportation, or related technical field preferred Military technical background, trade experience, or equivalent field experience will also be considered 2–7 years of experience in construction, inspection, transit, manufacturing, maintenance, QA/QC, or related technical environments Strong mechanical aptitude, technical problem‑solving, and organizational skills Experience working in active field, operational, industrial, or construction environments preferred Ability to review drawings, specifications, inspection documentation, and technical reports Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project documentation tools preferred Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required Base Compensation $110,000 - $130,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location) Benefits Health and Welfare benefits: Top‑tier medical coverage (one plan with no employee premium required), prescription drug, dental, vision; flexible spending accounts and a health savings account (with a generous employer contribution); life, accident, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; employee wellness program Retirement Savings: 401(k) with employer match of 50% per dollar up to 6%, fully vested after three years; additional 3% in profit‑sharing contribution after one year of employment (immediately vested) Paid Time Away from Work: 3–4 weeks of vacation based on experience and company discretion, prorated in the 1st year based on hire date (up to 2.5 weeks can be carried over per year); 10 paid holidays; 10 sick days per calendar year, with the ability to carry‑over sick time to a maximum of 40 days to be used for future FMLA‑qualifying events; Partial Paid Parental leave up to 12 weeks for birth parents and 4 weeks for non‑birth parents EEO Statement Hatch is an Equal Opportunity Employer that considers applicants without regard to age, race, color, national origin, citizenship, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, veteran, or any other protected status.
