SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, and select Human Resources support functions for a well-established, growing global merchandising and branded retail organization. This high-impact leadership role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial statements, maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, and overseeing key accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on financial leader who can balance strategic thinking with operational execution, deliver meaningful financial insights to executive leadership, strengthen processes, support budget and forecast activities, and help maintain the highest levels of financial integrity and accountability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Financial Leadership, Reporting & Accounting Operations
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, month-end/year-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting while maintaining strong accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and GAAP compliance.
• Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements, executive reporting packages, and financial analysis that supports strategic decision-making.
• Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management
• Support the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, analyze variances, and provide recommendations to improve financial results.
• Manage cash flow planning by forecasting cash requirements, monitoring balances, and implementing effective cash management strategies.
• Compliance, Audits & Process Improvement
• Ensure compliance with tax filings, government reporting requirements, and applicable accounting standards.
• Coordinate annual audits, recommend procedural improvements, and strengthen ERP/accounting system integrity, reporting automation, dashboards, and financial workflows.
• Team Leadership, Payroll & HR Support
• Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff through training, performance feedback, and ongoing support.
• Oversee weekly payroll, employee time management, and company communications related to HR matters.
• Serve as a liaison between Corporate Human Resources and the local team, supporting employee matters, recruiting, interviews, and onboarding as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of hands-on Controller experience or similar accounting leadership experience.
• Public accounting experience is preferred.
• Experience with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and accounting controls.
• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
• Proficient in accounting software and databases, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Sage/Peachtree accounting software is a plus.
• Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
