Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – North Fulton Oncology Full Time Work Shift Day (United States of America) Job Summary The LPN works under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Manager and functions within the LPN Scope of Practice. Provides care for patients, including age‑appropriate interventions that meet physical, emotional, developmental, psychosocial and educational needs. The LPN coordinates and delivers high‑quality care, prepares patients for exams, assists during treatments, coordinates tests and follow‑up care, records treatments in the medical record, and provides patient and family education. The LPN attends and participates in staff meetings, in‑services, special projects and continued education, and may serve as a preceptor for newly hired LPN colleagues. Local travel is required; float staff will float between Cobb Hospital branches based on need, all sites within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Direct Patient Care : Assesses and assists with managing patients’ total needs following physician orders with RN oversight; performs routine nursing procedures under RN supervision; meets established productivity standards; demonstrates competency in accessing and de‑accessing ports, flushing lines, sterile technique, and medication administration within scope; seeks training or supervision as needed; may delegate tasks to unlicensed staff within scope; provides relationship‑based patient‑centered care that is culturally sensitive; partners with patients and families to promote a comfortable and safe environment. Coordination of Services for Episode of Care : Coordinates care and services with RN and other team members; informs RN, physician, midlevel and/or clinical supervisor of changes in patient condition; collaborates with RN to develop and revise individual plan of care based on patient needs and physician orders. Patient / Caregiver Education : Serves as patient educator to foster self‑care or caregiver support; utilizes teach‑back to ensure understanding of self‑care instructions. Communication and Documentation : Completes required documentation within established timeframes; demonstrates knowledge of regulatory guidelines; checks voicemail when working as triage, returns patient phone calls and work email daily. Staff Education and Professional Development : Participates in orientation and education of new employees and nursing students as appropriate; attends continuing education and in‑services as directed; remains current in clinical knowledge for oncology patient care; performs other duties as assigned. Obtains prior approval for modifications to work or coverage as needed; complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education High School Diploma, General or GED; General or Other / Certificate Nursing. Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) LPN – Licensed Practical Nurse. BLS – Basic Life Support, ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support, or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support Instructor. Required Minimum Experience Previous healthcare experience preferred; experience in oncology, ambulatory, or outpatient setting preferred. Required Minimum Skills Positive leadership, problem‑solving, organizational and time‑management skills. Strong assessment and clinical skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.
