Job Overview The position provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support services to inpatients and outpatients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. It coordinates the overall provision of respiratory care, plans and implements respiratory care programs, sets up positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy as ordered, educates patients on proper use of equipment, monitors compliance data, and follows up with patients and physicians per departmental policy and procedures. Sign-on Bonus $7500 sign‑on bonus. Key Responsibilities Provide respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support services to in‑patients and outpatients. Coordinate the overall provision of respiratory care and implement respiratory care programs. Set up all types of positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy as ordered by physicians. Educate patients on proper and safe use of equipment, monitor compliance data, and conduct follow‑up with patients and physicians per policy. Set up respiratory equipment in the post‑acute setting and document all pertinent information regarding each patient. Participate in process improvement initiatives and resolve patient issues. Communicate with physicians and serve as a resource on respiratory therapy in the post‑acute setting. Adapt communication and behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication preferences. Perform other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficient computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information; proficient with Windows applications and keyboard usage. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly to varying levels of individuals. Knowledge of respiratory equipment. Reliable transportation for home visits to set up/monitor respiratory equipment. Availability to be on‑call for patient needs. Education & Certification Associate’s degree. Graduate of an AMA‑approved school of Respiratory Therapy. (Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health or a related field.) Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist and certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. BLS – Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association. Experience Required: None. Preferred: Experience with positive airway pressure (PAP) and other respiratory home medical equipment. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work: Exerting 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10–25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree and may involve pushing or pulling materials. Potential exposure to blood or body fluids, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste. Occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
