Physical Therapy AssistantWe are seeking a dedicated and caring Physical Therapy Assistant to join our hospital rehabilitation team. In this role, you will work closely with Physical Therapists and other healthcare professionals to help patients recover from injury or illness, restore function, reduce pain, and improve overall mobility and independence. This position is ideal for someone who values teamwork, patient-centered care, and making a meaningful difference every day.Position SummaryThe Physical Therapy Assistant provides medically prescribed physical therapy treatments under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Care is delivered to patients experiencing musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular, and integumentary conditions. The PTA plays a vital role in helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals while supporting safe, effective, and compassionate care in a hospital setting.Key ResponsibilitiesReview established physical therapy goals, patient conditions, and medical records to deliver appropriate treatmentsPerform physical therapy interventions within the scope of PTA practice and under the supervision of a Physical TherapistMeasure and document patient strength, motor skills, functional capacity, and tolerance to treatmentMonitor patient responses to therapy and communicate progress or concerns to the supervising Physical TherapistAdjust treatment approaches as directed to ensure optimal patient outcomesEducate patients and caregivers on therapeutic activities and home exercise programsAccurately document treatments, patient responses, and progress in electronic or paper medical recordsCollaborate with Physical Therapists and other members of the care team to coordinate comprehensive patient careParticipate in departmental meetings, in-services, and continuing education opportunitiesSupport clinic and department operations by assisting with assigned responsibilitiesParticipate in outreach, marketing, or community events as neededEducation & ExperienceAssociate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program requiredOne to two years of related experience or clinical training preferredLicensure / CertificationCurrent Physical Therapy Assistant license with the Kansas State Board requiredLicense must be displayed as required by regulationKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to read and interpret medical documentation and treatment plansStrong communication skills for interacting with patients, families, physicians, and regulatory agenciesBasic math and reasoning skills to support treatment planning and documentationProficiency with basic computer applications, including electronic documentation and scheduling systemsWorking Conditions & Physical RequirementsModerate noise level typical of a hospital or clinical environmentMay require occasional travel between facilities to support patient care needsRegularly requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting patients with mobilityAbility to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 70 pounds occasionallyAbility to perform close and peripheral vision tasks and work at a computer for extended periodsWhy Join Our Hospital?Our hospital is committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care in a collaborative and respectful environment.
