Police Officer

Job Overview Under general supervision of assigned supervisor, performs duties in police service depending on the area of assignment. May be assigned to any of the work areas described below. Principal duties and responsibilities include attending recruit training courses, responding to calls for police service, enforcing airport code and traffic regulations, investigating offenses, patrolling both public and restricted areas, and performing investigations including pre-employment and background checks.

Minimum requirements include being a current licensed peace officer with two or more years of experience as a sworn full-time paid police officer, or having a position equivalent to a peace officer in the armed forces of the United States with two or more years of continuous service, among other qualifications.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to complete applicant processing requirements, knowledge of law enforcement principles and practices, ability to analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action, and ability to respond quickly and calmly under emergency, stressful or changing conditions.

Efforts may include performing physically demanding work under stressful conditions, working outdoors in inclement weather, reacting calmly, quickly, and logically in emergency situations, and driving to locations on and off DFW Airport property.
