Manager of Financial Planning and AnalysisOgletree Deakins has the opportunity for a Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis to join our Corporate Accounting and Finance department. The Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is a key member of the Finance Department, responsible for managing the firm's financial modeling and profitability analysis functions. This role reports to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and partners closely with the Chief Financial Officer, firm leadership, Shareholders, Practice Groups and Office Leaders to provide data-driven insight that supports strategic decision-making, financial performance management, and long-term planning.Essential FunctionsManages the annual revenue budgeting process and periodic revenue forecasting cycles for the firm, practice groups, and offices, in partnership with the CFO and Controller.Prepares month-end and quarter-end variance analysis comparing actual financial performance to budget and forecast, with commentary on key drivers for firm leadership.Builds and maintains financial models to support long-range planning, scenario analysis, and capital allocation decisions.Analyzes firm, practice group, office, and attorney-level financial performance, including revenue, realization, utilization, and profitability trends.Prepares hours-based financial reporting packages and various timekeeper reports and dashboards, including Intellistat, for the CFO, Executive Committee, and Shareholders.Develops financial presentation materials and supporting narrative for Board and Executive Committee meetings.Supports ad hoc financial analysis and special projects requested by firm leadership, including merger/lateral partner financial due diligence, new office openings, practice group launches, and other firm expansion initiatives.Analyzes matter-level and client-level profitability on an ongoing basis and reports findings to firm leadership.Completes and coordinates responses to industry compensation, financial, and market benchmarking surveys, and analyzes survey results to inform firm strategy and competitive positioning.Directly manages a team of 2-3 Financial Analysts, providing coaching, review, and development.Builds strong working relationships with Shareholders, attorneys, and administrative department leaders.Explores and implements AI-enabled tools and automation to streamline financial analysis, reporting, and modeling workflows, developing new approaches to analyze and interpret results.RequirementsBachelor's degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.Prior supervisory or team-leadership experience managing a small team preferred.Experience with Elite Enterprise, Aderant, or a comparable legal financial or practice management system.Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI or comparable platforms.Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics tools and a demonstrated interest in developing or applying new tools and techniques to analyze financial data and results.5+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis or corporate finance, with prior law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred.Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and profitability analysis, with strong financial analysis and modeling skills.Must be professional and client-service oriented.Excellent problem-solving skills and sound business judgment.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial data to non-financial audiences.Technical skill to gather and evaluate data using both traditional and non-traditional tools and resources.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel (including advanced modeling functions), Outlook, SQL, and internet search engines.Wage TransparencyIn accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act Transparency Notice, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is between $143,140 and $185,240. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
