Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during operative procedures; coordinate flow of instruments, supplies, and staff.
- Maintain patient safety and aseptic technique throughout the perioperative phase; monitor patient status and respond to changes.
- Participate in preoperative assessment, intraoperative nursing care, and postoperative recovery planning; document care and outcomes.
- Prepare the surgical environment, manage sterile fields, and verify equipment readiness and functioning.
- Collaborate with the OR team to ensure correct patient, procedure, and site, including time-outs and procedural checklists.
- Ensure accurate counting of sponges, needles, and instruments; manage specimen labeling as needed. This assignment is represented by CNA.

Requirements
- Current active RN license in California or eligibility; ability to practice in an OR/perioperative setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a perioperative nursing environment; comfortable with a fast-paced surgical setting.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, circulators, and OR staff.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient transfers and equipment handling.
- Commitment to perioperative nursing standards and hospital policies; willingness to comply with CNA representation requirements.
