About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

Our teams use Agile and DevOps practices, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud-native services to streamline business processes, improve system resiliency, and accelerate delivery. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact solutions that directly support reliable electric service and the digital transformation of FirstEnergy.

Core Cloud Engineer Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support Azure cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices with Terraform.
• Build, maintain, and support CI/CD pipelines to automate provisioning, deployment, and configuration of cloud resources.
• Apply established cloud security, networking, resiliency, and governance patterns to deliver well-managed enterprise environments.
• Collaborate within Agile teams to deliver, iterate, and support cloud solutions aligned to business and operational needs.
• Continuously learn and apply new cloud technologies and practices to improve platform reliability and delivery efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, MIS or another related field.
• I years with degree, 2 years without in supporting the strategy, architecture, design and implementation of cloud initiatives.
• 2 years with degree, 4 years without in supporting the strategy, architecture, design and implementation of cloud initiatives.
• Experience with configuring, deploying, and automating Azure cloud environments (AWS and GCP experience are a nice to have)
• Experience with Terraform, YAML, & Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Experience in the Agile/Scrum methodology
• Experience working in an environment with rapid prototyping and piloting of cloud solutions.
• DevOps automation experience including setup and configuration of CI/CD processes
• Expertise in infrastructure as code (e.g., ARM, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chocolatey)
• Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP and load balancing
• Willingness to travel throughout organization and service territory and work extended hours, as required
