We are seeking PRN Pre-Op Registered Nurses (RNs) to support ambulatory surgery centers in the Houston, TX area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking PRN Pre-Op Registered Nurses (RNs) to support ambulatory surgery centers in the Houston, TX area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pre-op assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and patient readiness for surgery
- Verify surgical and informed consent forms, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Review patient charts to confirm laboratory results, clearances, and required documentation; report abnormalities to the surgical team
- Initiate intravenous (IV) access and administer pre-operative medications as ordered
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including site preparation and coordination with the surgical team
- Provide pre-operative education and instructions to patients and families to reduce anxiety and support optimal outcomes
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including Universal Protocol and time-out procedures
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Monitor patient condition prior to surgery and escalate concerns as appropriate

- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current RN license in the state of Texas
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Pre-Op nursing experience required
- Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
