General Production Worker

Job Title: General Production Worker – 2nd Shift Job Description

This 2nd shift General Production Worker role supports daily manufacturing and packaging operations by handling finished goods, operating material handling equipment, and accurately recording production data. You will work in a hands-on environment stacking and banding coils, moving product in and out of trucks, and using computer systems to track inventory and staging locations, while being trained and cross-trained across multiple areas of the operation.

Responsibilities

• Stack coils on skids as they come off the packaging line, ensuring proper placement and stability.

• Band coils securely to skids and process shipping tags in accordance with shipping and safety requirements.

• Scan finished goods and accurately locate them into designated staging locations using the inventory system.

• Enter production and inventory data into computer systems with a high level of accuracy.

• Move ready product into and out of trucks using appropriate material handling methods and equipment.

• Perform general production and general labor tasks to support daily manufacturing operations.

• Use hand tools and assist with machine operation as directed to maintain workflow and product quality.

• Apply mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor issues and support efficient operation of equipment.

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Participate in training and cross-training across different functions, including potential machine and crane operation.

• Collaborate with team members, communicate effectively, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.

Essential Skills

• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.

• General production and general labor experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.

• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery and hand tools.

• Familiarity with computers and basic data entry skills.

• Basic math skills to support production, measurements, and inventory tasks.

• Willingness and ability to train and cross-train across multiple operational areas.

• Positive attitude and strong team player mindset.

• Attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions safely and accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Forklift experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is valued.

• Experience with machine operation or production environments is a plus.

• Comfort working with hand tools and basic mechanical tasks.

• Interest in learning to operate a slitter machine or overhead crane over time.

• Reliable work habits and commitment to punctuality and consistent attendance.

Work Environment

This is a full-time role with a Monday–Friday schedule. Initial training takes place on 1st shift with hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., after which you transition to 2nd shift. The work is performed in an active production and packaging facility that involves standing, lifting up to 70 pounds, and working around machinery and material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes. You regularly use hand tools and computer systems to support production and inventory tasks. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, requiring appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pawcatuck, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
