  • This role applies established project management practices to deliver consistent project outcomes while supporting company, regional, and business line objectives within a dynamic utility and Power Delivery environment.

Your Impact

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of multiple concurrent transmission line and substation projects of significant size, complexity, and strategic importance.
  • Provide senior-level project management oversight for scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, risk, procurement, construction readiness, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for project delivery, proactively identifying issues, driving decisions, escalating risks, and ensuring alignment with client expectations, contractual requirements, and WSP standards.

  • Guide technical review requirements, resource planning, staffing assignments, and QA/QC expectations to ensure deliverables are complete, accurate, timely, and aligned with project objectives.
  • Mentor project managers, assistant project managers, and project team members by sharing best practices, reinforcing accountability, and supporting consistent project delivery across the program.
  • Exercise sound judgment and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, client commitments, and project conduct while adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business and client needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field within the Power & Energy market; equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience, including significant project management responsibility within the Power Delivery, transmission, substation, utility, or related infrastructure industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing medium to large, complex transmission line and/or substation projects for electric utility clients, including investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipal utilities, independent power producers, or similar organizations.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple concurrent projects or a portfolio of related projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, risk, client satisfaction, and overall delivery performance.
  • Advanced understanding of utility project delivery, including engineering, procurement, permitting, environmental coordination, construction readiness, outage coordination, commissioning, closeout, and client reporting requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of project controls practices, including CPM schedule management, cost forecasting, earned value management, change management, risk management, invoice review, and financial performance tracking.
  • Experience developing and maintaining project governance tools and documentation, including project execution plans, risk registers, decision logs, action item trackers, change logs, QA/QC records, and audit-ready project files.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships at a senior project level, communicate effectively with client representatives and leadership, resolve issues proactively, and support long-term account and program objectives.
  • Experience leading, coordinating, and influencing multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, project controls, procurement, construction, environmental, permitting, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and client stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to project managers, assistant project managers, and project team members while reinforcing accountability, consistency, and adherence to project management best practices.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess project performance, anticipate risks, evaluate alternatives, and recommend practical solutions aligned with project and business objectives.
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to manage project financials, protect margin, support change recovery, evaluate commercial impacts, and make sound decisions involving company funds and client commitments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear project reports, executive summaries, client communications, meeting materials, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project management tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling tools, and related project controls or reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, adapt to changing project needs, and maintain accountability in a fast-paced utility project environment.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety, quality, ethics, and compliance, including adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, harassment, Code of Conduct, and related policies and procedures.
