Job Description Vulcan Materials Company is the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates and a major producer of aggregates‑based construction materials, including asphalt and ready‑mixed concrete. What You’ll Do Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment. Service, repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment that operates throughout the plant in order to maximize performance and limit downtime. Inspect Equipment and Material. Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot the cause of errors. Perform repairs to address problems when necessary. Handle and Move Objects. Handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools in a safe manner throughout the shop and plant. Document and Record Information. Ensure correct and accurate documentation is completed on a daily and monthly basis regarding all mobile equipment. Enter and maintain service reports for all the mobile equipment in written or electronic form. Operate Equipment. Assist in driving heavy equipment and vehicles throughout the plant when necessary in order to ensure production continues in an efficient manner. Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned. Skills You’ll Need Experience. Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred. Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred. Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance. Benefits Health & Benefits: This position is covered by the Local 150 collective bargaining agreement. Full benefits package including medical, vision, dental, prescription drug, mental health, pension, retiree benefits, paid holidays and paid vacation. Compensation: Experienced candidates will be placed according to the union contract salary scale between $51.75 to $53.75.
