Operations Intern

Position Summary This position will provide assistance to linemen and other line personnel in connection with the construction, maintenance, service, and repair of the electrical system. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Assist linemen, as instructed, in the preparation, construction, replacement, and maintenance of electric distribution lines, structures, and equipment. Perform manual labor-type tasks such as assisting in digging and tamping pole holes, cleaning vehicles, and loading materials. Anticipate linemen’s needs and supply them with proper tools, equipment, and materials. Ensure all tools, equipment, and unused materials are returned and replaced on the line truck after the completion of a job or the day’s work. Responsible for compliance with the Cooperative's safety rules, policies, and procedures. Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance. In addition to these responsibilities, may be assigned by the District Operations Supervisor or Foreman to perform other duties from time to time. Education High school diploma or equivalency is required. Experience And Job Knowledge No prior experience or job knowledge is required. Abilities And Skills Must possess a valid Texas driver's license with good driving record. Must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral forms with the general public and co-workers. Must be able to lift/move 50 pounds or more, as necessary without external assistance of personnel or mechanical aids. Must be able to perform manual digging with a pick and shovel. Must be able to walk distances up to one mile in uneven terrain. Must have sight to be able to see working conditions from a safety standpoint. Working Environment This job operates in a field environment, and the role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting in awkward positions. The majority of the work schedule will be performed traveling to and working at various field locations within the service territory each day. The individual must be willing to work in all adverse and inclement weather conditions. Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position. This position will work less than 30 hours per week with flexible hours, between 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. #J-18808-Ljbffr
