Emergency Room Registered Nurse

City/State: Charlottesville, VA Work Shift: Second (Evenings) Overview Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Full Time Second Shift Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department. This is a three 12‑hour shift position either from 11am to 11pm or 3pm to 3am with required call. A sign‑on bonus up to $15,000 is available for qualified candidates. Position Details Shift options: 11am‑11pm or 3pm‑3am Full‑time required call: 16 hours per 6 weeks Orientation: 10 weeks on unit for experienced RNs Patient volume: 70−100 patients per day Responsibilities Provide competent nursing care using the nursing process and critical thinking. Perform assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, and evaluation. Maintain professional standards in ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, resource utilization, and environmental health. Education & Licensure Required: Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or MSN Registered Nursing license required. ACLS required prior to completion of orientation. PALS required prior to completion of orientation. BLS required within 90 days of hire. Experience Preferred: 2 years of Emergency Room experience. Preferred: Critical care and acute care experience. Manage complex cases in fast‑paced environments. Communicate with patients and providers.
