ChildRoots SE PFA Assistant Infant/Toddler Teacher

Join Our Team at ChildRoots SE – 50 SE 17th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97214. We are looking for an experienced early childhood educator to serve as a Step 4+ Assistant Teacher (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) at our Portland location. The role involves caring for a small group of infants or toddlers in a supportive, co‑teaching environment that emphasizes child‑led learning and inquiry. Responsibilities Provide primary care and educational support for a consistent group of children. Foster a safe, engaging, and child‑centered learning environment. Support the Lead Teacher in designing and implementing developmentally appropriate activities. Build and maintain strong relationships with families, ensuring clear and supportive communication. Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to a positive workplace culture. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum Step 4 in the Oregon Registry. Currently enrolled in, or completing, Oregon's Central Background Registry upon hire. Meet teacher‑qualification criteria outlined by the Office of Child Care, including: Previous experience in a structured child‑care environment. Completion of college‑level courses in early childhood education‑related subjects. Degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) preferred. Completion of Oregon’s Safety Set Trainings and required certifications: Pediatric CPR/First Aid Oregon Food Handler’s Card Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention is Better than Treatment Safe Sleep for Oregon’s Infants Compensation & Benefits Starting wage $22.27 per hour (to increase to $23.16 starting in the 2026‑27 school year).
