Business Continuity Specialist

Job Summary Join us at Panasonic Energy as we expand to De Soto, Kansas, where we’re building the world’s largest lithium-ion battery factory. This role supports efforts to ensure continuity and resilience of manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include identifying risks, conducting business impact analyses, and supporting the development and maintenance of business continuity strategies across production, supply chain, and support functions. Responsibilities Functional Operations Support development, implementation, and maintenance of Business Continuity plans tailored to high‑volume manufacturing needs. Conduct regular risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical operations and potential vulnerabilities. Support crisis communication strategies and effective communication channels for incident response. Engage external partners, vendors, and government agencies for coordinated responses. Coordinate Risk Review Board/Risk Council program and track mitigation progress. Utilize and support BC technologies (e.g., Fusion) for planning, documentation, and incident response. Maintain BC documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility. Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement Monitor emerging risks, industry trends, and regulatory requirements (ISO 22301, NFPA 1600) to enhance BC plans. Manage and report BC program initiatives to senior leadership. Identify opportunities to incorporate Lean Manufacturing principles into continuity planning. Training & Team Support Coordinate cross‑functional teams for BC exercises, simulations, and drills. Develop knowledge and provide support and guidance for BC initiatives. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Communication Partner with Operations, IT, Security, and Supply Chain to align resilience objectives. Support cross‑functional communication during incidents, including escalation. Quality, Safety, & Compliance Ensure BC plans align with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Support audit activities and assessments related to BC. Travel Requirement Minimal travel may be required for training and coordination across locations (typically less than 10%). Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements PPE may be required and include items such as Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, glasses, mask, bump cap, and hazmat suit with respirator. Qualifications Requirements – Education, Certifications, and Licenses Bachelor’s degree in Business Continuity, Risk Management, Emergency Management, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, IT, or related field. Relevant Business Continuity or risk management experience may substitute for required education. Professional certification in Business Continuity (e.g., MBCI or CBCP) required at time of hire, or willingness to obtain within 6–12 months. Preferred Master’s degree in related field. CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional). ISO 22301 Lead Auditor. PMP (Project Management Professional). Essential Qualifications 4+ years in Business Continuity in complex or high‑paced operational environments. Experience developing and implementing BC plans in manufacturing or similar settings. Strong project management skills with ability to lead cross‑functional teams. Excellent analytical skills for risk assessments and BIAs. Experience in crisis management and emergency response planning. Experience supporting audits, compliance reviews, or certification efforts. Proficiency in BC technology platforms (e.g., Fusion). Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Working‑level English language proficiency. Alignment to Panasonic’s seven core principles. Preferred Qualifications 6+ years of progressive BC experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Experience in high‑volume battery manufacturing or related industrial environment. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles. Knowledge of ISO 22301 and NFPA 1600. Experience with enterprise BC tools such as Fusion.
