Laboratory - Phlebotomist Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Phlebotomy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid 5x8-Hour Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum two years in a hospital setting License: Valid state license required Certifications: Certification from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians preferred. BLS training required and accepted only from the American Heart Association. Must-Have: Excellent interpersonal skills, strong customer focus Description:The Phlebotomist collects adequate and correct blood specimens by venipuncture or micro technique on adults, children, and infants.This includes working with outpatients, pre-surgical patients, Emergency Department patients, and patients in remote locations.Responsibilities include maintaining equipment and ensuring that departmental supplies are stocked and well maintained.The Phlebotomist notifies the area supervisor when supplies are insufficient.Demonstrates appropriate understanding of the needs of patients and visitors for each specific age group.Addresses safety and psychological needs in planning or delivering care.Demonstrates knowledge of service priorities, work routines, and workflow patterns.Monitors workflow to assure prompt and efficient delivery of services.Demonstrates the ability to evaluate departmental performance and recommend measures to improve services.Knowledge of designated laboratory section and competence in all required procedures in accordance with institutional policies is necessary. #J-18808-Ljbffr
