Campus Safety & Security Patrol Officer

Campus Safety OfficerPatrols campus and performs various activities within campus safety and security to assist in maintaining a safe campus environmentEssential Job FunctionsPatrols university properties to keep the campus safe and secureUtilizes the access control software system to assist in maintaining building securityConducts follow-up investigations of incidents gathering additional information for preparing incident reportsEnforces parking rules and guidelines on campusPerforms dispatcher duties when assignedPerforms other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED)Valid U.S. driver's licenseWillingness and ability to obtain and maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certificationWillingness and ability to obtain and maintain Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol (OCAT) (or equivalent), and Monadnock Expandable Baton certificationsAbility to work nights, weekends, and holidaysAbility to read, write and comprehend EnglishProficiency in Microsoft Word and OutlookWillingness to be subject to a comprehensive background investigationPhysical Demands:Ability to stand and walk for entire work shiftsTalk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and armsAbility to climb, bend, crawl and lift and/or move (up to 25 pounds)Ability to run short distancesCapability of using muscular force to defend oneself from physical attack or to come to the aid of othersWork Environment:Ability to withstand working in outside weather conditionsAbility to operate a patrol vehicle at any time under any weather conditionsPreferred QualificationsLaw enforcement, military and/or security experienceEmergency management experience and/or understanding of National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) operationsExperience with and/or understanding of Title IX, Clery Act, and privacy regulationsExperience in conducting criminal or personnel policy investigations and investigative report writingExperience with Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management Systems (RMS) systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.Please Note:Qualified candidates must live or relocate to live within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until job posting is closed.Johnson & Wales University is an equal opportunity employer.
