As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work closely with licensed physical therapists to implement treatment plans, assist patients in their rehabilitation journey, and contribute to their overall recovery. Responsibilities Assist licensed physical therapists in the implementation of individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs. Provide direct patient care, including administering therapeutic exercises, modalities, and manual therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy. Educate patients and their families on exercises, home health strategies, and discharge planning to promote ongoing recovery. Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and treatment outcomes in compliance with medical terminology standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings including inpatient care, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, and acute care environments. Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology to effectively support patient rehabilitation across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics. Participate in the development of care plans that address the specific needs of patients undergoing orthopedic rehabilitation. Foster a positive environment that encourages patient motivation and engagement throughout their recovery process. Requirements Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required. Proven experience in skilled nursing facilities or outpatient clinics is preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and physiotherapy practices. Familiarity with discharge planning processes and patient care strategies across various settings including home health. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while demonstrating compassion for patients’ needs. Certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is required; state licensure must be maintained as per regulations.
