About the Role TH Media is looking for a Content & Social Media Strategist to uncover the stories worth telling and turn them into social content people actually want to consume. At the center of this role is social media. You’ll own the content and social strategy for a portfolio of Brand Storytelling clients — learning their businesses, understanding their audiences and goals, uncovering stories and expertise, developing ideas, building monthly content plans, writing copy, collaborating with our production team, and using performance data to continually make the work better. One of the best parts of this role is the variety. You won’t spend every day marketing the same company, product, or industry. You’ll get inside businesses across Central Iowa — learning how they work, meeting the people behind them, understanding their customers, and figuring out what makes each one worth paying attention to. You’ll spend time talking with business owners, executives, employees, customers, and subject-matter experts. You’ll ask good questions, follow interesting threads, and find stories our clients may not even realize they have. While social media and video content are at the heart of the role, you’ll also have opportunities to contribute to email, website content, campaigns, and broader digital strategy. You don’t need to be an expert in every channel — but you should be curious about how they work together to grow a brand. This isn’t a role for someone who simply wants to fill a social media calendar. It’s for someone who is curious enough to find the story, strategic enough to know why it matters, creative enough to make people care, and analytical enough to learn what we should do next. Key Responsibilities Own the social and content strategy for a portfolio of Brand Storytelling clients. Become deeply knowledgeable about each client’s business, audience, goals, industry, competitors, and brand. Build monthly content plans aligned with each client’s larger marketing objectives. Develop concepts for short-form video, photography, educational content, brand storytelling, and other social-first content. Identify the stories, people, expertise, trends, and moments that can become compelling content. Monitor performance, identify what’s working and what isn’t, and turn those insights into stronger concepts, messaging, formats, platforms, and strategy. Establish meaningful KPIs based on client goals rather than relying solely on vanity metrics. Stay current on social platforms, emerging formats, audience behavior, cultural trends, AI, and changes affecting modern marketing. Continually bring new ideas to the table rather than relying on the same formats month after month. Storytelling & Creative Execution Lead conversations with business owners, executives, employees, customers, and subject-matter experts to uncover stories and perspectives worth sharing. Write compelling social copy, hooks, headlines, video concepts, scripts, interview questions, and other marketing messaging. Translate ideas into clear production plans that give our Video Production team the strategy, direction, and context needed to execute. Attend client content shoots and provide strategic and creative direction around interviews, messaging, story opportunities, and content priorities. Collaborate with Video Production and Creative to push ideas beyond the obvious and make the final work stronger. Adapt, schedule, and publish content across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Google Business Profile, and other relevant platforms. Occasionally capture social-first photo or video content using a phone when the format or moment calls for it. Contribute to email, website, blog, and other content needs when appropriate. Participate in monthly client meetings alongside the Client Success Manager to communicate strategy, performance, learnings, and what’s coming next. Partner closely with Client Success to keep strategy, execution, scope, and client expectations aligned. Build trusted relationships with the clients you serve while understanding that the Client Success Manager owns the overall account relationship. Manage multiple client strategies, calendars, shoots, deliverables, and deadlines without sacrificing quality. Bring a point of view — listen to what clients want, understand what they’re trying to accomplish, and be willing to recommend what you believe they actually need. Take ownership of your work from the initial idea through publishing, performance review, and the next round of strategy. Experience 1-3+ years of experience in social media, content marketing, digital marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated experience creating and executing social media or content strategies for brands. Strong writing samples and/or a portfolio of relevant social, video, or content work. Experience working across multiple brands, clients, or audiences is a plus. Familiarity with social publishing, analytics, project management, and modern marketing tools preferred. Working knowledge of analytics and the broader digital ecosystem — including email, web, paid media, search, and AI — is a plus.
