Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Technician Lead to join the Engineering Solutions team supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold AFB, TN. This NDE Technician Lead will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for maintaining and sustaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

The Non-Destructive Evaluation Lead will play an important role in ensuring the safety, quality, integrity and reliability of various materials, components, structures, and welding fabrication using a variety of methods and techniques to detect flaws, imperfections, or changes in material properties that could lead to failure.

Job Duties:

• Guides daily operations within the lab assigning tasks based on priorities and supports team members.
• Ensures compliance with company policies and safety standards.
• Performs and assists in nondestructive testing on piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, test hardware, and rocket motors.
• Utilize various methods to inspect materials and components such as radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, eddy current testing, infrared thermography, etc. Once results are obtained, the technician will interpret the results from the testing process to identify and characterize any flaws or anomalies and document their findings in detailed reports.
• Witness and verifies procedural compliance of both hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing of piping systems and pressure vessels.
• Performs In-Service Inspections (ISI) of PHMS certified systems, document findings, and assist PHMS engineering in monitoring corrective action.
• Administers and witness welder performance qualification (WPQ) test.
• Maintains inventory, proper maintenance, and calibration of lab equipment as needed.
• Performs NDT in certified methods at geographically separated units.
• Performs toolbox inspections.
• It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
• Physical requirements include the ability to work in an industrial plant setting, climb ladders, operation of aerial work platforms, lifting of at least 25 lbs. overhead.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain respirator use certification as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma plus an Associate’s degree, 60 completed college semester hours, or completion of a two-year technical program.
• 10 years of experience in Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) testing.
• Must possess or meet the training and experience requirements to obtain Level II or Level III certification in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A (or other applicable standard) in MT, PT, UT, RT, and VT.
• American Welding Society (AWS) CWI Certification
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network
• Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering technology with curriculum in non-destructive testing and evaluation
• A strong understanding or interest in materials science, physics, and engineering principles
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word products
• Careful attention to detail
• Strong problem- solving/troubleshooting skills
• Experience reading piping drawings
• Current American Petroleum Institute (API) 510 or 570 certification

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount BNH is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time jobs will be adjusted based upon the number of hours agreed to work at location Tennessee: Arnold Air Force, TN. 

L06: $69,000 - $98,000; L07: $84,000 - $112,000 / year at Arnold Air Force Base, TN.
