Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Neuro Stepdown & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required; holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 31-bed Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 (Stepdown) or 1:5–6 (EMU floor)
• Care for higher-acuity neuroscience patients including those with strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and EVD placements
• Implement and document NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments as part of ongoing neurological monitoring
• Administer and monitor set-rate and protocol-driven drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin per physician orders
• Collaborate with a 24/7 charge nurse, nurse aides, respiratory therapy, and interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Maintain flexibility for floating to other units as needed and participation in the holiday and weekend rotation

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license; any license history issues must be disclosed at time of submission
• Minimum of 1–2 years of Stepdown-qualified RN experience with a strong Neuro background
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required and must be in hand at time of submission
• Demonstrated experience caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH Stroke Scale assessments
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with External Ventricular Drains (EVDs)
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in a stepdown or PCU setting
