Next, Haven-1 is expected to become the world's first commercial space station when it launches in 2027, followed by additional Haven modules. Additionally, the company recently announced Vast Satellite, a high-power satellite product line leveraging its space station components and the heritage of Haven Demo. Headquartered in Long Beach, California, and with more than 1,000 employees and over a billion dollars in private capital, Vast has built the facilities required to manufacture and operate America's next space station. The company plans to develop future habitats and systems for the Moon and Mars, dedicated space stations for government partners, and other crewed systems that will unlock the expanding long-term space economy.

Vast is looking for a Senior Facilities Technician, reporting to the Facilities Manager – Mojave Test Site, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations and the E-2 LOX/Kerosene oxidizer-rich staged combustion engine.

This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Mojave Test Site location.

Responsibilities:

• Schedule and/or perform routine building maintenance tasks including troubleshooting and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and/or carpentry requests
• Complete various break/fix repairs to the facilities and premises as assigned. Some examples could include painting, patching walls, replacing ceiling tiles, assembling furniture, office equipment, and kitchen equipment, installing, replacing, and repairing carpet, tiles, etc.
• Day to day management of various contractors
• Perform job walk-downs with vendors, engineers, supervisors, and managers
• Track all work in the Facilities CMMS system
• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts when needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 4+ years of facilities and/or maintenance experience

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience with facilities within an aerospace industry
• Experience in construction, project management, equipment maintenance, and tenant improvements
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, framing, and industrial gas trade
• Knowledge of basic engineering and construction principles and methods
• Familiar with industrial air fittings and maintenance
• Able to read instructions and blueprints
• Experience in a fast-paced work environment
• Self-motivated and works well with others
• Manage company provided set of basic maintenance tools
• Safety training and use of forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes & hoists, fall protection equipment

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
• Must have a valid CA driver's license
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and work in an outdoor, physically demanding test environment (from freezing conditions to temps up to 120 degrees fahrenheit)

Pay Range: California

$37 - $52 USD
