The Opportunity
The Medical Coordinator arranges and coordinates appropriate health services — including urgent, emergent, and preventative care — for children in FSA's foster care program, maintaining confidential medical records, scheduling appointments, coordinating transportation, ensuring interpretation/translation services, and serving as a liaison for community health care providers.
Please note: This is a grant-funded, term-limited position for up to three years. Continuation is contingent on grant funding.
What You Will Own
Arrange and coordinate urgent, emergent, and preventative health services, including scheduling appointments and coordinating transportation.
Maintain complete, confidential medical records and document health information accurately in the EHR.
Ensure appropriate communication of health needs between medical, case management, and clinical staff.
Ensure qualified interpretation and translation services are in place for health care appointments.
Serve as a liaison for community health care providers and as a medical chaperone during appointments as needed.
Track vaccination and immunization requirements for children in care.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of one (1) year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care; AND a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) or higher health-related qualification, OR a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Must be at least 21 years of age. Employment is contingent on successful completion of all required background checks and credentialing, including FBI fingerprint, state repository, child abuse and neglect, and sex offender registry checks, and proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable respiratory diseases.
Preferred Qualifications
Medical coordination experience in a foster care or children's health services setting.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Experience with EHR systems.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $35,700 – $42,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include group health, dental, and vision insurance; employer-paid basic life insurance (coverage begins after the eligibility period); paid time off and paid federal holidays; professional development; GSA-rate mileage reimbursement; and workers' compensation per N.C.G.S. § 97-2.
