The SVP will lead the design and execution of a high-performing, integrated cardiac surgical network, spanning tertiary and quaternary centers, community hospitals, ambulatory settings, and partnerships. The role requires collaborative leadership across a highly matrixed organization, aligning hospital leadership, employed and independent physicians, Rutgers faculty, and administrative teams toward common enterprise goals. This leader will drive clinical excellence, equitable access, sustainable growth, and academic advancement, while ensuring RWJBH remains a regional and national leader in cardiac surgical outcomes, innovation, and value-based care. This role reports directly to the Chief Clinical Officer, RWJBH Heart & Vascular Service line, and serves as a key member of the enterprise clinical leadership team. The ideal candidate will bring at least 15 years of active clinical experience in cardiac surgery, including a minimum of 10 years in progressive physician leadership roles within cardiac surgery, cardiovascular service lines, or an academic health system. Demonstrated success leading an integrated cardiac surgical program, improving clinical quality, operational performance, financial results, patient access, and academic initiatives is essential. Experience navigating complex, matrixed organizations while influencing diverse stakeholders and driving enterprise-wide transformation is strongly preferred.
