In this role, you will deliver expert technical service and support for our gas analysis systems while driving aftermarket growth and customer success. You will work independently and collaboratively in the field, performing complex installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities, while serving as a trusted technical advisor to customers. This position offers the opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with business development and continuous improvement in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.**Technical Service Delivery**Install, commission, calibrate, test, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain gas analyzers, sample handling systems, and related instrumentation at customer sites and selected in-house locationsPerform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), startup activities, and post-installation performance verification to ensure system readiness and complianceInterpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, technical manuals, and quality documentation to diagnose system issues efficiently and safelySupport pre-shipment system build verification and technical readiness in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teamsPrepare accurate service, commissioning, calibration, and failure analysis reports in line with quality, regulatory, and customer requirements**Customer Success and Commercial Impact**Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers by identifying reliability risks, asset performance gaps, deferred maintenance exposures, and upgrade opportunitiesSupport the growth of long-term service revenue by promoting preventive maintenance agreements, calibration programs, spare parts, modernization packages, and value-added service offeringsPartner with sales and aftermarket teams to develop technical scopes, service quotations, and solution recommendations that align customer needs with profitable business outcomesCapture, qualify, and document service-generated leads in CRM systems, ensuring timely handoff and follow-through with commercial stakeholdersProvide technical training to customers, distributors, and internal teams to improve product adoption, safe operation, and lifecycle value**Operational Excellence, Safety, and Compliance**Execute all work in accordance with company safety standards, customer site procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements, including OSHA-aligned practices and site-specific permit processesMaintain strong discipline in documentation, quality systems, inventory coordination, and service planning/forecasting activitiesCollaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, customer support, and commercial leadership to improve service performance and customer outcomesContribute to continuous improvement, Lean, and service productivity initiatives focused on first-time-fix rates, response times, and margin performanceQualifications**Required Qualifications:**Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline; equivalent combination of technical education and directly relevant field experience may also be consideredTypically 3–7 years of experience in field service, commissioning, technical support, instrumentation, process analyzers, or related industrial equipment environmentsStrong working knowledge of electronics, industrial instrumentation, calibration principles, and electrical fault findingDemonstrated ability to work independently in customer-facing environments with a high level of professionalism, judgment, and accountabilityProficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and process documentationProficiency with Microsoft Office and service documentation systems; experience with SAP, ERP, CRM, or Salesforce is an assetValid U.S. driver's license and ability to travel extensively within the United States**Preferred Qualifications:**Experience supporting analytical instrumentation, gas analyzers, laser-based measurement technologies, process control equipment, or related systemsIndustry exposure in oil & gas, industrial gases, chemical processing, power generation, cement, food processing, or other regulated industrial sectorsExperience with PLCs, HMI/SCADA interfaces, digital diagnostics, or commissioning support for integrated systemsLean, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma exposure with demonstrated focus on service productivity and customer value creationCommercial awareness and prior experience influencing service sales, maintenance contract renewals, or upgrade recommendationsAdditional InformationSGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetics, status as a protected veteran, or any other characteristics protected by law.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
