Radiology Technician

Summary: Takes diagnostic radiographs of patients while maintaining patient safety.

Responsibilities:

• Introduce and greet patient.
• Responsible for the care and safety of patients.
• Instructs and prepares patient for xray & or fluoroscopic exam.
• Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions, & shields patient accordingly.
• Produce high quality xrays.
• Assists with training students and ancillary personnel.
• Interacts professionally with patients and family.
• Completes all work before clocking out and leaving.
• Attends annual hospital review (compliance) and departmental inservices meetings as scheduled.
• Practices medicine and surgical aseptic procedures.
• Is proficient in either mammography, operating room or another specialty modality.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Skills Experience:

HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Other Information:

Required: Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license. Minimum Experience: one year Desired: Experience with patient care in a radiology setting. Specialty certification.

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
