St. Luke's Physician St. Luke's Physician provides medical services in general care and treatment of patients in both practice and hospital settings. Provides comprehensive medical services on a continuing basis, delivering high quality, cost effective medical care, and participates in quality, patient satisfaction and performance improvement initiatives. Responsibilities and Duties Perform history and physical examination of all patients seen. Provide cost‑effective, high‑quality care based on best practice evidence‑based medicine. Adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff. Demonstrate competency in assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development, and age‑appropriate communication. Maintain regular, timely, appropriate communication with referring physicians, patients and their families. Participate in education of patients and their families. Evaluate and implement patient health‑care needs; perform routine exams and obtain patient histories. Manage patient treatment program based on assessment of needs. Initiate treatment via prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams and procedures. Review lab results and plan actions accordingly. Perform routine health‑maintenance activities for new and established patients. Coordinate patient care and make referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, etc., as needed. Collaborate and communicate with other professionals, nurses, physicians, and outside agencies regarding patient care. Coordinate patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies as appropriate. Teach wellness habits and educate patients on prevention of potential health problems or methods of dealing with present problems. Provide information and materials relating to patient health‑care needs. Maintain knowledge of current medical practices and skills. Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity and proper release of information. Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient and environmental safety and report appropriately. Physical and Sensory Requirements Sit up to 3 hours per day, in intervals of 3 hours. Stand up to 8 hours per day, in intervals of 8 hours. Walk up to 6 hours per day, in intervals of 1 hour. Frequent manual dexterity tasks required (finger, handle, grasp, twist, turn). Consistently lift, carry, and push up to 10 lbs; occasionally up to 75 lbs; rarely up to 100 lbs. Rarely lift or push patients up to 300 lbs in a wheelchair or stretcher. Occasionally stoop and bend. Vision: normal near, far, color, and peripheral vision. Hearing: normal conversational and high/low frequencies. Education Graduate of an accredited medical school with completion of residency and/or fellowship in area of specialty. Training and Experience Current or recent experience in area of specialty. Licenses and Certifications MD or DO licensed by the state licensure board within the State of practice. Board Certified or Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.
