Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) provides compassionate, family-centered care to pediatric patients. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing and documenting individualized care plans, administering chemotherapy and medications, monitoring central lines and laboratory results, providing transfusions and electrolyte infusions, educating patients and families, and collaborating with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team.

The RN will also engage in patient safety initiatives, infection prevention, handoff reports, care coordination, quality standards, and accurate electronic medical record documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete patient assessments and create individualized care plans.
• Administer chemotherapy and other oncology medications.
• Monitor patients with central lines and assess laboratory results.
• Provide transfusions and electrolyte infusions as required.
• Educate patients and their families about treatment and care procedures.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in safety initiatives and maintain quality control standards.

Qualifications

• Active Florida RN license or valid multistate eNLC license.
• Minimum of 2 years of pediatric Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
• Experience caring for immunocompromised pediatric patients.
• Demonstrated experience in administering chemotherapy, blood products, electrolyte infusions, and other oncology treatments.
• Comfortable with central-line care, IV monitoring, lab draws, and transfusions.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, documentation, and family education skills.
• BSN or enrollment in a BSN program preferred.
• CPHON, CPON, or BMTCN certification preferred.
• No issues with background or license clearance.

Work Schedule

Shift: 3x12 hours (Nights 19:30 - 08:00)

Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or as needed based on unit demands.

Maximum RTO (Requests Time Off): 7 days, to be disclosed at the time of submission.

Special Requirements

• Must have pediatric experience in Hematology/Oncology.
• Ability to float to other nursing units within scope of practice.
