Material HandlerThe Material Handler plays a critical role in supporting plant operations by safely and efficiently moving raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods throughout the facility. This position is responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, ensuring accurate inventory movement, supporting production requirements, and maintaining a safe work environment.The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while adhering to quality, productivity, and inventory control standards. This position is located in our Vincent, Alabama warehouse.Basic Qualifications:High school diploma or GED required.Minimum of six (6) months of forklift operating experience.Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift Certification.Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.Ability to read, interpret, and compare words, numbers, labels, and work orders accurately.Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Essential Job Function:Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment to transport, load, unload, stack, and store materials efficiently, accurately, and safely.Stage materials for production and distribution activities.Perform manual material handling, stacking, and unloading activities as needed.Utilize barcode scanners and inventory management systems to track material transactions and allocate work orders.Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory accuracy initiatives.Verify product quantities and locations using measuring devices and storage layouts.Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and material handling equipment.Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, and safety hazards to supervision promptly.Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA guidelines.Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.Support quality standards by ensuring accurate handling and movement of materials.Vulcan Industries is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
