As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Fleet Operations to lead fleet performance, operational efficiency, and service excellence across one of our key markets.

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fleet operations, driving business performance, enhancing operational processes, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a proven ability to develop teams, optimize operations, and achieve measurable results.

What You'll Do as Director of Fleet Operations:

Operational Leadership

• Provide strategic oversight for all fleet and transportation operations.
• Drive operational efficiency, productivity, and service performance across the organization.
• Develop and execute plans that support growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure resources are effectively allocated to meet operational demands and business objectives.

Fleet Management & Performance

• Oversee fleet utilization, vehicle readiness, maintenance programs, and asset management strategies.
• Partner with maintenance and operational teams to maximize fleet reliability and minimize downtime.
• Monitor fleet performance metrics and implement improvements that enhance efficiency and cost control.
• Ensure vehicles meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and safety expectations.
• Support long-term fleet planning and operational scalability initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop management teams, operational staff, and independent contractor driver networks.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Establish clear performance expectations and provide coaching to maximize team effectiveness.
• Identify leadership development opportunities and succession planning initiatives.
• Promote employee engagement and retention through strong leadership and communication.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Champion a safety-first culture throughout all fleet and operational functions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations.
• Oversee driver and staff training programs that promote safety, professionalism, and operational excellence.
• Proactively identify operational risks and implement corrective action plans.
• Maintain readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

Financial & Business Performance

• Manage operational budgets and support financial planning initiatives.
• Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas of concern.
• Develop strategies to improve profitability while maintaining exceptional service levels.
• Partner with senior leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and business planning efforts.
• Monitor expenses and ensure responsible stewardship of company assets and resources.

Customer & Stakeholder Relations

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, business partners, community stakeholders, and internal teams.
• Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality transportation services.
• Address operational challenges quickly and effectively while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Support company growth initiatives through strategic partnerships and community engagement.
• Represent zTrip as a leader in transportation and operational excellence.

Qualifications of a Director of Fleet Operations:

Preferred Experience

• 5+ years of senior leadership experience in transportation, fleet management, logistics, operations, or a related field.
• Proven success leading large-scale operational teams and driving business performance.
• Strong background in fleet operations, transportation management, and service delivery.
• Experience managing budgets, financial performance, and operational planning.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make strategic business decisions.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
